Zakat Policy

Your Zakat goes to people eligible to receive it, minus the fee our payment provider charges to process the donation. Nothing else is taken from Zakat — not for salaries, fundraising, administration or operations.

Wisal Foundation treats every donation as an Amanah (a trust), and accepts the responsibility and accountability that come with receiving and administering it.

 

General Donations

General donations carry two deductions: the payment processing fee, and up to 12% towards operations. Everything else goes to humanitarian programs and direct assistance to beneficiaries. The operations share is reviewed each year.

 

Payment Processing Fees

Processing fees are charged by our payment provider, not by Wisal Foundation. They are currently 2.9% plus $0.30 for each card donation, and can be higher for American Express, international cards and donations in other currencies. Because of the fixed $0.30, the fee takes a larger share of a small donation than of a large one.

 

What the Operations Share Pays For

Outreach, donor engagement and administration — the work that lets Wisal Foundation reach more donors and deliver more aid to communities in need.

 

Unrestricted Donations

Wisal Foundation also receives grants, Sadaqah and other general donations. Donors may give these as unrestricted funds, which can be used for operations and administration. Unrestricted funds pay for the staff, systems and logistics that make it possible to deliver Zakat-funded programs and humanitarian assistance on the ground.

 

Help Support Wisal’s Operations

If you would like to help Wisal Foundation cover the costs of operating and delivering our humanitarian work, you may make an additional unrestricted contribution to support our operational expenses. This helps cover essential costs such as outreach, administration, coordination, and the infrastructure needed to deliver assistance effectively.

This contribution is separate from donations designated for Zakat or specific humanitarian programs.
